I hope this letter finds you well and that you are enjoying the fall season. I am writing to you as the President of the Chamber to share a recap as well as some important reminders about our upcoming events.
First of all, I would like to congratulate Megadry Disaster Restoration Inc. and Ryan Skjerdal for winning big at the ABEX Awards held in Saskatoon on September 16, 2023. The ABEX Awards are Saskatchewan’s premier business awards night that celebrates local businesses by recognizing and honoring outstanding achievements in business excellence. Megadry Disaster Restoration Inc. won the Growth and Expansion Award. Ryan Skjerdal won the Young Entrepreneur Award, which recognizes an entrepreneur under the age of 35 who has excelled in business; exemplified leadership and entrepreneurial skills; and demonstrated exceptional vision that has contributed to business success. These awards are a testament to their hard work, innovation, and excellence. Congratulations!
Secondly, I want to thank Whitecap Resources for hosting our members for a terrific Business Unwind event held on September 28, 2023 as well as a big thank you to Women Building Futures for an informative presentation about how they help underemployed obtain employment and to re-skill. A big thank you to the Weyburn Oilwomen Association Inc. for sponsoring this Handshakes and Hashbrowns Event.
Thirdly, I would like to remind you about some other upcoming events that you don’t want to miss:
Handshakes and Hashbrowns – WorkSafe Saskatchewan on October 17, 2023 at 7:30 am at the Royal Canadian Legion. This is a breakfast event where you can network with other Chamber members and learn about workplace safety from WorkSafe Saskatchewan.
Chamber Member Appreciation BBQ – October 19, 2023 at 11:30am – 1:00pm located at the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce office, free to all members.
Business Unwind – Weyburn Curling Club – October 27, 2023 7:00 – 9:00 pm at Weyburn Curling Club. Bring your enthusiasm and warm clothes.
Ag Appreciation Night – November 7, 2023 at McKenna Hall. This is an annual banquet to recognize the importance of agriculture in the local economy, celebrating the hard work and dedication of local producers and ranchers. This year’s guest speaker is non other than Luc Mullinder.
Parade of Lights – December 7, 2023. This is a tradition for many Weyburn residents who line the streets along the parade route. The parade features lighted floats, trucks, antique cars, and equipment…all decked out from top to bottom in thousands of sparkling lights! It’s time to start brainstorming your ideas you’re your business’ float. You can find the parade route on our website.
