Presidents Message – August 2023

On Thursday, August 10th the Weyburn Chamber held their annual Linked on the Links Golf tournament. Despite the rainy morning the clouds broke just in time to enjoy a great lunch put on by Whitecap Resources. 61 golfers enjoyed the day of 18-holes of golf, networking, and finished the day off with a steak supper and prizes. Thank you to all our event sponsors and to those who joined us for a day on the course.

I would like to thank the team from the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce for joining our Chamber on July 18th. The Sask Chamber did a road trip to various chambers around Saskatchewan, visiting with board members and touring the cities. Our Executive Director, Monica, took the 4 members out to Whitecap Resources and they had an engaging presentation from Darcy Cretin. In attendance was Prabha Ramaswamy, CEO; Paula Welke, CMO; Virginia Wilkinson, COO, and Jordan Ewart, Director of Policy and Research.

In the past Weyburn has had many businesses become finalists’ at the Saskatchewan Chamber’s ABEX Awards and this year is no exception. Congratulations goes out to MegaDry Restoration on being a Finalist in two categories for the 2023 ABEX Awards. They are up for awards in the Growth & Expansion Award and New Venture Award. Owner of MegaDry, Ryan Skjerdal is also a finalist in the Young Entrepreneur Award. The ABEX Awards are celebrating their 40th year of highlighting business excellence in the province of Saskatchewan. Good luck to MegaDry on September 16th.
