During the most recent Coffee with the Chamber, our members met with various department heads from the City of Weyburn to get updates. One main take away from the round table discussion was the Commercial Incentive Program, which was introduced in January 2022. The Weyburn Chamber recommends for our members that planning to do any building upgrades to check with the City of Weyburn administration prior to any improvements to see about potential tax incentives.
In the fall of 2022, the Government of Saskatchewan announced the Saskatchewan First Act. While there were various questions and concerns at first our Chamber now has a better understanding of this legislation and what it means for the businesses within our city and province. On February 1st the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce held a Fireside Chat with Minister Eyre, Minister of Justice and Attorney General. The Minister provided comments on the act and ensured the sustainability of Saskatchewan jobs. We look forward to seeing this legislation in more detail.
We encourage you to attend our events this upcoming year and provide any feedback by email to manager@weyburnchamber.com, call 306-842-4738 or feel free to stop into the Chamber office at 11 3rd St., Weyburn.
